Billy Joel’s final pit stop — brain condition forces closure of famed bike haven

The Piano Man’s engines are going silent.

In a twist that has stunned fans, rock icon Billy Joel is pulling the plug on his beloved motorcycle haven, 20th Century Cycles, after nearly 15 years of roaring chrome, vintage steel, and free fan pilgrimages.

The reason? A heartbreaking health bombshell.

The 76-year-old hitmaker has been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus — a brain condition where fluid builds up inside the skull, threatening balance, memory, and mobility. For Joel, who once commanded sold-out stadiums and cruised highways on two wheels, the news has been life-altering.

“This isn’t how I pictured it ending,” Joel reportedly confided to friends. He’s already canceled concerts and, according to insiders, will auction off his jaw-dropping collection of dozens of rare motorcycles later this year.

The Long Island native opened 20th Century Cycles in 2010 as his personal garage-turned-public museum — a shrine to an era of motorcycles from the ‘30s to the ‘60s. Fans flocked from all over the world to see the bikes up close, free of charge, sometimes catching Joel himself in greasy overalls, wrench in hand.

“This was never just about motorcycles,” Joel once said. “It was about preserving beauty from a time that’s slipping away.”

But now, the engines that once thundered in his shop are falling silent. In late September, the doors will close for good — leaving a hole in Oyster Bay and in the hearts of fans who knew 20th Century Cycles as more than just a garage.

For now, Billy Joel’s fight isn’t on stage or the open road — it’s with the shadows inside his own mind.

And this time, there’s no encore.
