The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has intensified efforts to locate two South Korean nationals who escaped from custody earlier this week.

Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitives as Lee Jingyu, 32, and Yang Heejun, 44, both facing deportation proceedings.

The escape was discovered during a routine inspection at the BI Warden’s Facility in Muntinlupa City, where personnel found signs of forced exit and later confirmed the two were missing.

Authorities immediately placed the detention facility on lockdown and began coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to track the suspects.

Lee was previously arrested in Pasay City and is wanted abroad for drug smuggling, while Yang was apprehended in Pampanga and faces criminal charges in South Korea.

Both men are subjects of Interpol red notices and have been tagged by the BI as posing serious risks to public safety.

Viado said the manhunt is ongoing and urged the public to report any information that could lead to the fugitives’ arrest.
