Four-city drug sweep nets 7, P1.49-M suspected shabu in Metro Manila

A string of overnight drug stings across Metro Manila led to seven arrests and the seizure of about Php 1.49 million worth of suspected shabu, police said Friday.

The National Capital Region Police Office said four operations were carried out within roughly five hours in Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Manila and Taguig from late Thursday to before dawn Friday.

The biggest hauls came from Valenzuela and Manila, where police separately recovered about 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 680,000 in each operation.

In Valenzuela, a 22-year-old suspect was arrested beneath a footbridge along West Service Road in Barangay Paso de Blas at around 2:10 a.m. Three other suspects were caught about 30 minutes later during a sting along Osmeña Highway in Malate, Manila.

The overnight crackdown began at around 10:40 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong, where two suspects were arrested with about 12 grams of suspected shabu worth Php 81,600.

The final operation took place at around 3:45 a.m. in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig, where a 37-year-old suspect was arrested with about 8.2 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 55,760.

Altogether, authorities recovered approximately 220.2 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of Php 1,497,360.

NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said the operations were intelligence-driven and conducted within legal safeguards. Complaints for alleged sale and possession of illegal drugs under Republic Act No. 9165 were being prepared against the seven suspects.
