Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday said the investigation into alleged bid manipulation in the Bureau of Fire Protection is progressing steadily.

The probe, covering the procurement of fire safety equipment, has examined transactions going back several years, including the items purchased, their quantities, suppliers, and pricing, he added.

Remulla estimated that the review is around 70 percent finished for the officials under initial scrutiny.

Earlier, he announced plans to file complaints with the Ombudsman against the first batch of 20 BFP officers allegedly involved in bid-rigging schemes.

The investigation has been conducted with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and a full report is expected by Friday.

The Interior Secretary said the charges may include fraud, graft, bid-rigging, and conflicts of interest.

Remulla emphasized that authorities are committed to ensuring accountability in the procurement processes of the fire bureau.
