Six candidates allied with the Bangsamoro Grand Coalition secured six of Lanao del Sur’s nine district seats in the first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, while three seats went to candidates from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party.
Comelec provincial election supervisor Mohammad Nabil Mutia, who chaired the provincial board of canvassers, led the proclamation of the nine winners.
Princess Pala Gandamra of the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party won the First District. She was followed by Hamza Gauraki of UBJP in the Second District and Abdul Rauf Adiong of SIAP in the Third District.
Lampa Pandi of UBJP won the Fourth District, while Arimao Asum of SIAP took the Fifth District. Hosni Macapodi of SIAP won the Sixth District, Ali-Usman Mindalano of SIAP secured the Seventh District, Ahmad Balindong of UBJP won the Eighth District, and Rashdi Adiong of SIAP captured the Ninth District.
Overall, SIAP won six of the province’s nine district seats, while UBJP secured three.
Following the results, Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. called for unity and reconciliation among political groups after the historic parliamentary vote.
