Baguio City experienced one of its coldest mornings this month as temperatures dropped to 11 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m. on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.

The reading marked a noticeable decrease from the previous day’s 13.2°C, highlighting a sharp dip in the city’s usual temperature range for January.

Many residents said the cold has been biting, making it difficult to get out of bed and stay warm despite Baguio’s reputation for a cool climate.

Health authorities continue to remind the public to dress appropriately, keep warm, and take necessary precautions to avoid cold-related illnesses.

Baguio’s weather typically reaches its lowest between December and February, though cooler conditions sometimes extend into early March.

The city’s historical record low remains 6.3°C, recorded on December 18, 1961.

Pagasa forecast that the cold conditions may persist in the coming days, urging residents and visitors to remain cautious.
