Bacolod City has lined up a new waste management operator for 2026 after approving nearly P437 million in contracts to ensure uninterrupted garbage collection and landfill operations, officials announced Tuesday.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said the City Council granted him authority during a special session to finalize the agreements, citing the urgency of maintaining sanitation and environmental safeguards in the city.
The contracts, effective from January to December next year, set aside P327.9 million for garbage collection and hauling and another P109 million for the operation of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.
A consortium led by International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist Inc. (I-SWIMS), together with Rizal-based D.C. Sandil Construction and Realty Development Inc. and San Igmedio Builders Inc., will undertake the services.
City officials said the selection followed the removal of the current contractor, IPM Construction and Development Corp., whose contract ends on December 31.
While IPM-CDC initially submitted the lowest bid for collection services, the Bids and Awards Committee disqualified the firm after it declined post-qualification procedures and failed to resolve issues on hauling equipment ownership.
The city subsequently awarded the contracts to I-SWIMS as the next eligible bidder, clearing the way for a new operator to take over Bacolod’s solid waste management next year.
