BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The city government allocated Php 17.4 million to support its delegation for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa set in Agusan del Sur from May 24 to 31.

Mayor Greg Gasataya signed a memorandum of agreement on Friday with Department of Education Bacolod City Schools Division Superintendent Dennis Develos to formalize the assistance.

Gasataya said the funding was intended as long-term support for young athletes, saying local sports development could eventually produce world-class competitors.

The city is sending a 286-member delegation composed of athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones and trainers.

Of the total, 188 are athletes who will compete in athletics, volleyball, softball and para games events.

The rest of the delegation includes 35 coaches, 11 assistant coaches, 16 chaperones and 36 trainers.

The financial package will cover transportation, accommodation and uniforms, along with daily allowances for participants.

The first batch of delegates is scheduled to depart on May 16, followed by subsequent groups on May 18 and May 20, joining the wider Negros Island Region contingent for the national games.
