Back injury keeps Jalalon out of Northport

It will still take a while before Jio Jalalon suits up for Northport in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The cat-quick guard is suffering from a back injury (sciatica) that has so far kept him out in the Batang Pier’s first two outings.

Jalalon, 32, said it will take a while before he gets to see action for the team which is off to another fine start.

“Mga two weeks pa siguro,” he said Saturday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo following Northport’s 113-101 win over Terrafirma.

“Pero tuluy-tuloy naman yung rehab ko. Hopefully makalaro na ulit,” added the veteran playmaker.

Despite his absence, the Batang Pier are currently on top of the standings with a 2-0 record in a tie with guest team Eastern from Hong Kong.

Northport routed NLEX in its debut game, 114-87.

The injury to Jalalon prompted Northport management to include new rookie signee Agem Miranda as its 14th local player.

The 5-foot-9 Jalalon joins big man JM Calma in the injury/reserved list along with suspended guard John Amores. (PBA)
