Three Filipino rice dishes—arroz caldo, lugaw, and champorado—have earned spots in the Top 100 Porridges in the World by international food guide TasteAtlas.
Arroz caldo ranked second overall, praised as the Filipino take on congee with its ginger-flavored broth and tender chicken, often garnished with scallions, calamansi, or garlic chips.
Lugaw secured the 10th spot, known for its soft, easily digestible texture that makes it a staple breakfast or comfort food, especially for the sick.
Champorado followed at 19th place, recognized as a sweet porridge made with glutinous rice and cocoa, often paired with milk and dried salted fish.
Topping the list is Indonesia’s bubur ayam, a popular chicken congee.
