Police arrested a 39-year-old American national wanted for seven counts of alleged violations of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 in Argao, Cebu, on November 5, 2026.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said personnel of the Argao Municipal Police Station, under the Cebu Police Provincial Office, served the arrest warrant against the foreign national in Barangay Poblacion.

The suspect faces seven counts under Republic Act No. 9262, with a recommended bail of Php 366,000.

Authorities said the American national was taken into police custody pending further legal proceedings.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized that law enforcement authorities are obligated to implement court-issued warrants regardless of the nationality of the individuals involved.

“When the courts issue a warrant, we have the responsibility to implement it, whether the person involved is a Filipino or a foreign national. At the same time, we make sure that the rights of the accused are respected throughout the process,” Nartatez said.

The police chief stressed that enforcing court orders must be carried out professionally and in accordance with established legal procedures.

He also underscored the importance of respecting the constitutional rights of accused individuals while ensuring that they face the appropriate judicial proceedings.

According to the PNP, the arrest forms part of its continuing campaign to serve outstanding warrants and strengthen coordination with the judiciary.

The operation also supports the PNP’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) program, which focuses on improving police efficiency, accountability, and coordination in law enforcement activities.

The PNP reiterated its commitment to working with courts and concerned government agencies to ensure the proper implementation of judicial orders while upholding fairness, professionalism, and due process.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the allegations against the suspect.
