HAMILTON, Canada – The US State Department on Friday urged American citizens in the Middle East to remain vigilant amid an increased risk of armed attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group and alleged Iranian threats against US government officials.
In a security advisory posted on social media platform X, the department warned Americans in the region to exercise heightened caution.
“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the increased threat of armed attacks by Iranian-supported Houthis and Iranian efforts to target U.S. government officials in the region,” the advisory stated.
The department also cautioned travelers about possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other transportation disruptions that could affect travel plans across the region.
However, US authorities did not disclose specific details about the alleged threats, including potential targets or locations.
The advisory comes amid continuing regional security concerns involving Iran and the Houthi group.
