Alas Pilipinas is set to compete in the AVC Men’s Nations Cup from June 17 to 24 in Bahrain, as part of its preparations for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, which the Philippines will host from September 12 to 28.
The Philippines is grouped in Pool B alongside Qatar, Vietnam, Australia, and Kazakhstan. Pool A includes host Bahrain, Indonesia, and Thailand, while Pool C consists of South Korea, Vietnam, and New Zealand. The draw was held during the AVC Board of Administration Meeting at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, hosted by AVC and Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
Before heading to Bahrain, Alas Pilipinas will also participate in the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals on June 10 to 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It was a remarkable draw for the AVC’s competitions, and we’re incredibly happy to announce that volleyball is very much alive in Asia. We’re aiming for excellent quality of the competitions,” said Suzara.
In addition, the Philippines will join the AVC Women’s Cup in Hanoi, Vietnam from June 7 to 14. The women’s team is in Pool B with Iran, Indonesia, Mongolia, and New Zealand. Pool A includes host Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, Chinese-Taipei, and Hong Kong.
The Philippines will also be represented in the AVC Women’s U16 Championship in Amman, Jordan from July 20 to 27. The U16 team is in Pool B with Japan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the country will not join the AVC Men’s U16 Championship in Thailand from July 12 to 19.
Suzara, who was elected AVC president in August 2023, affirmed the group’s commitment to growing volleyball in Asia with the support of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
