Leading party-list group Akbayan is set to prioritize the filing of measures aimed at ending labor contractualization and political dynasties, including assisting college students in completing their education.
According to Rep. Perci Cendaña, the party-list’s second nominee, they plan to introduce an anti-endo bill once the 20th Congress convenes.
“It is time for Filipinos to have security of tenure or assurance in their jobs,” he said.
Cendaña said that their party aims to end the cycle of poverty, especially among the youth, by aiding them to finish their education through the Baon Bill.
Under the proposed measure, college students whose families are current or former beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) would be entitled to a monthly allowance of P5,000.
“Kasama tayo sa nagpasa ng SK reform law kung saan nilagyan natin ng anti political dynasty provision. Balak natin palawakin at i-cover ‘yung iba pang branches ng gobyerno,” he said.
Akbayan also stated that they plan to pursue legislation, including the Student Rights and Welfare Bill, the SOGIESC Equality Bill, and the Alternative Minerals Management Bill, to tackle issues like indiscriminate mining in the Philippines.
