BAGUIO CITY – The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) said the additional PHP300 million fund to complete the PHP400 million it committed to the city government here for the full rehabilitation of Burnham Park is now available.
“The whole amount was approved even before the pandemic. We just ran out of money because it was used for the coronavirus disease 2019 response,” TIEZA chief operating officer and general manager Mark Lapid said in a statement Friday.
TIEZA officials are in the city to support the Panagbenga flower festival parades, in addition to inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation of Burnham Lake.
The agency released PHP100 million for the rehabilitation of Burnham Park in October 2025. The children’s park, skating rink and rose garden are included in the repair works.
“We can now see what was invisible before. There was a lot of mud inside (the park),” Lapid said.
The lake’s rehabilitation includes the construction of a dock, a retaining wall, a view deck and repair of the sidewalk with benches. (PNA)
