New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge made history on Saturday by becoming the fastest player in Major League Baseball (MLB) to reach 350 career home runs. He achieved this milestone with a two-run homer in the ninth inning of a 5-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Judge’s 350th career home run came in his 1,088th game, surpassing the previous record held by Mark McGwire, who reached the milestone in 1,280 games.
Judge is now the fourth player to hit 350 home runs as a Yankee, joining legends Babe Ruth, Alex Rodriguez, and current teammate Giancarlo Stanton.
The homer marked Judge’s 35th of the season, placing him three behind Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, who leads the season with 38 home runs. Judge has surpassed 50 homers in three separate seasons, including a remarkable 58 last year, which helped propel the Yankees to the World Series.
Currently, Judge leads the American League in several key offensive categories, including batting average (.358), on-base percentage (.465), and slugging percentage (.739). The reigning American League Most Valuable Player is also set to serve as the captain of the AL team in Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Atlanta after winning the fan vote.
