Several more typhoons are threatening and expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) during the ‘ber’ months.
According to the state weather bureau, nine more typhoons are being monitored to enter the country before the year ends.
This is linked to the La Niña Alert announced by the bureau, which forecasts a 70% or higher possibility of La Niña developing from October to December, potentially continuing until February 2026.
State Weather Bureau Deputy Administrator Marcelino Villafuerte said the possible 16th forming typhoon will be named “Paolo”, with 5 to 9 more tropical cyclones expected to enter the PAR until the end of 2025.
Although the incoming typhoons are not anticipated to be stronger than previous ones, the bureau is preparing for their arrival to prevent larger impacts.
Meanwhile, Villafuerte urged the public to always be ready, particularly in Visayas and Mindanao, as these areas are frequently hit by the expected storms.
