American hip-hop artist Curtis Jackson, popularly known as “50 Cent,” has become the newest addition to the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter live-action reboot film, playing “Balrog,” through a partnership with Legendary Pictures, with a target release date of March 20, 2026.
Nexus Point News confirmed the report after the rapper posted the screenshot of the article on his official X account with the caption saying, “No Days off, Let’s work all roads lead to Shreveport 💣Boom💨.”
In the Street Fighter game series by Capcom, Balrog is an American boxer and one of the heads of M. Bison’s criminal organization, Shadaloo, alongside Vega and Sagat. He first appeared in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in 1991 and became a playable character in Street Fighter II: Champion Edition a year later.
Earlier casting updates for the movie also include Aquaman star Jason Momoa as Blanka, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Roman Reigns as Akuma, Snake Eyes‘ Storm Shadow and martial artist Andrew Koji as Ryu, Atom Smasher from the Black Adam movie Noah Centineo as Ken, musician Orville Peck as Vega, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li.
This reboot film aims to surpass the success of its first live-action adaptation under the same title in 1994, which starred Jean-Claude van Damme as Guile.
Although there is no further news about the story yet, production is expected to begin in August in Australia under the direction of Kitao Sakurai.
