Three weather systems will bring rains over some areas in the country on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 5:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA reported that the northeasterly surface wind flow will bring rains across Batanes, while the shear line will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Babuyan Islands.
Caraga and Northern Mindanao will also experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, according to PAGASA.
Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will prevail over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Davao Region.
Severe thunderstorms, however, could also result in flash floods or landslides.
The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, strong to gale-force winds and rough to very seas will prevail in extreme northern Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast in central Luzon and the rest of northern Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
No storms until next week
Meanwhile, in a briefing by the Office of Civil Defense on Monday, PAGASA’s weather division chief Juanito Galang said no storm is expected and fair weather is forecast until next week.
The country has just experienced four tropical cyclones, which he said also happened four years ago, and could be linked to the La Niña phenomenon.
“So I think you can call it unusual but it has already happened before,” Galang added. (PNA)
