MANILA – Two weather systems will cause rains to several areas on Friday, the weather bureau said.

The prevailing easterlies will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental.

Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The northeast monsoon (amihan) affecting northern Luzon will cause isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Moderate winds and moderate seas will prevail in extreme northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA spotted a new tropical cyclone about 3,145 kilometers east of central Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

“It is far and has no direct effect on any part of the country,” PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto said. (Cristina Arayata/PNA)
