2 Chinese nationals arrested for alleged kidnapping in Cavite

Authorities have apprehended two Chinese nationals in Cavite for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and illegal detention of two fellow Chinese citizens.

Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III identified the suspects as Zhou and Juncheng, while the victims were named Yuanjie and Yuanhao.

The operation was initiated after a complaint from a man identified as “Mak,” who reported that two of his friends were being illegally detained and extorted by the suspects.

On Monday, at around 11:15 p.m., police launched a successful rescue operation in Barangay Pascam 1, General Trias, Cavite, leading to the release of the victims and the arrest of the suspects.

Seized from the suspects were:

  • Two genuine P1,000 bills,
  • 300 pieces of P500 boodle money,
  • 298 pieces of P1,000 boodle money,
  • A .45-caliber pistol,
  • A magazine, and
  • Ammunition.

The suspects now face charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act (RA) 1084, as well as violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act under RA 10591.

The case has been forwarded for inquest proceedings.

Brig. Gen. Torre emphasized the PNP’s commitment to addressing crimes of this nature.

“This operation reflects our resolve to uphold justice and ensure that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are held accountable,” Torre stated.

The incident underscores the PNP’s ongoing efforts to combat crimes involving foreign nationals, particularly those targeting their communities while ensuring the safety of all residents in the country.
