Two men, suspected members of the so-called “Spider-Man Gang,” were arrested after being caught climbing onto a moving delivery van and stealing over P100,000 worth of items from a balikbayan box.
The theft was captured on CCTV, which showed the suspects clinging to the back of the moving closed van as it traveled through several streets in Quezon City. The driver was unaware of the crime, as the thieves were not visible on the camera inside the van.
The driver only discovered the theft when he made a stop.
Ferdinand Casiano, commander of La Loma Police Station.
After a follow-up operation in Navotas, La Loma police apprehended the two suspects.
Some of the stolen items, including shoes, appliances, and office supplies, were recovered.
According to the Quezon City Police District, the suspects had previously been involved in theft but avoided charges because victims had withdrawn their complaints.
The suspects are now facing theft charges.
