VALENZUELA CITY – A total of 177 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Valenzuela City received Php 6,950 each under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) KALAHI-CIDSS Cash-for-Work Program.
The beneficiaries completed 20 days of work, rendering four hours of service daily in public schools, with assignments suited to their individual abilities.
The initiative provided temporary employment opportunities for PWDs while allowing them to contribute to their communities and earn additional income to support their daily needs.
One of the beneficiaries, identified as Fe, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work and contribute to community activities.
“Maraming salamat dahil nagkaroon ako ng trabaho at pagkakataong kumita. Masarap sa pakiramdam na may naitulong ako sa komunidad,” she said.
The program aims to promote inclusivity by providing employment opportunities that recognize the skills and capabilities of persons with disabilities.
Under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DSWD continues to expand livelihood and temporary employment initiatives intended to improve economic opportunities for vulnerable sectors.
The cash-for-work initiative also highlights the participation of PWDs in community development activities while providing financial assistance through compensated work.
