A 13-year-old girl crashed a sport utility vehicle (SUV) into a passenger van on Sunday, injuring 23 people in San Juan, La Union.
Police said the SUV, which the girl reportedly took without permission, overshot a curve and collided head-on with the van. The girl and her female companion had allegedly run away from home before the crash.
The collision injured all 21 passengers in the van, along with the two girls in the SUV. Authorities confirmed that all victims are in stable condition. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) has taken the minor into custody while police continue to investigate how she was able to access and operate the vehicle.
