Zianbeau Edoc fired a 70 for a total of 141, dominating the boys’ 11-14 division at the ICTSI Pradera Verde Junior PGT Championship held in Lubao, Pampanga, on Wednesday.
Vito Sarines closed with a 69 to finish second at 143, followed by Race Manhit, who carded a 72 for third place with a total of 146. Jacob Casuga and Jacobo Gomez placed fourth and fifth, with scores of 151 and 153 after rounds of 77 and 78, respectively.
“I was making more putts today and hitting my wedges closer to the pin. I’ve learned the importance of starting strong and reading the greens better,” said Edoc, who claimed his second consecutive win after missing the first four legs of the tournament.
In the girls’ 11-14 division, Lisa Sarines posted a remarkable 68 to overtake her twin sister Mona and secure her third leg title with a four-under total of 140. Mona, who opened with a 71, matched that score on Day 2 to finish at 142.
“It feels very refreshing and relieving. I’ve been working harder and harder with my coach,” Lisa remarked.
Kendra Garingalao carded a 73 for third place at 151, maintaining her No. 3 spot in the division rankings behind the Sarines sisters.
In the girls’ 7-10 category, Ronee Dungca of Angeles City clinched the title with a 69, bringing her two-day total to 143. “I focused more on my short game, and it really paid off with a good score,” said the nine-year-old Dungca, who celebrated her second title after the Riviera leg. “I just stayed relaxed, focused, and enjoyed the game,” she added.
Mavis Espedido finished second with a 74 for a total of 144, while Venus delos Santos took third place with a score of 151 after a round of 76. Penelope Sy carded an 80 to finish fourth at 164, followed closely by Tyra Garingalao, who also shot an 80 to end up fifth at 167.
In the boys’ division, Zoji Edoc secured his second straight leg title—and third overall—by beating Halo Pangilinan by 11 strokes. Edoc carded a 78 for a total of 154, while Pangilinan registered an 81 for 165. Korean Sooreen Lee finished third with a score of 170 after another round of 85.
The final event of the seven-stage Luzon series will take place at Camp John Hay in Baguio City next week.
