Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the emerging peace plan under negotiation with the United States is becoming more favorable, describing it as “looking better.”
However, he stressed that the most significant challenge to reaching an agreement remains the issue of territorial integrity.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, the Ukrainian leader provided insight into the difficult nature of the discussions.
He revealed that Ukrainian and American negotiators had spent over six hours discussing “only on individual points” related to the territorial file, underscoring the complexity of the talks.
Zelenskyy highlighted that while the territorial component is the most difficult, other key challenges include securing necessary funding for restoration without the presence of European partners and obtaining concrete security guarantees from both the US and Europe.
He emphasized the need for careful consideration on these fronts.
The President confirmed that dialogue with Washington is ongoing. The US has shared its vision with Ukrainian officials and intends to present the same issues to Moscow.
Zelenskyy anticipates a full report on the status of these negotiations from his delegation, who are set to travel to Ireland.
Separately, when addressing speculation about a leadership shake-up after the resignation of Andriy Yermak from the presidential office, Zelenskyy stated he would conduct consultations upon returning to Kyiv.
He noted that the selection of the next chief of staff will hinge on various factors, including the need for a management direction that increases focus on diplomacy. (Anadolu)
