After filming the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Unmarry, which follows a couple breaking apart through annulment, Zanjoe Marudo said he hopes never to face such heartbreak in real life. The actor, who married Ria Atayde in 2024, shared the emotional toll of portraying the role during an interview in Mandaluyong City.
“Mahirap. Sa na-experience ko sa pelikula, ayoko ma-experience. Unang una, time, effort, energy, talagang wow,” he said.
Co-star Angelica Panganiban echoed this, noting how raw the process felt. “Para kang hinuhubaran. Sinusuwalat lahat ng experience mo, emotions mo, mali mo, nagtuturuan kayo eh. You are tearing apart a family, doon pa lang ang sakit sakit na,” she said.
Marudo also talked about his family life, especially his joy over fatherhood. “Nako, sobrang cute,” he said of his son. “Masaya siya. Lalo ngayon. Nakakausap ko na, nakakalaro. Ako daw kamukha, pero sobrang puti.” He added that he and Ria hope to have more children—“Sana, the more the marrier. Kailangan ko magka-girl.”
Producer Atty. Joji Alonso of Quantum Films said the movie was inspired by real cases her law firm handled. “Ang dami pinagdaanan ng law office namin. Nakita ko maraming kwento pwede magamit… Marami nga nagsasabi na the day they got married was the happy day but the happiest was when they got their annulment,” she said.
