YGG Pilipinas is set to embark on a transformative four-month journey with the Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) Caravan, a nationwide roadshow aimed at introducing the future of work to communities across the Philippines.
From April to August 2025, the MFW Caravan will visit six key cities, offering Filipinos the opportunity to enhance their digital skills and explore innovative online income streams without leaving their hometowns.
“The MFW movement proves anyone can build a sustainable career in the global decentralized digital economy. We’ve seen inspiring stories of former overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning home to find new income sources, students transforming their passion for gaming into professions, small business owners tapping into Web3 to expand their markets, farmers integrating digital solutions to supplement their livelihoods, and mothers building careers from home without leaving their children behind,” said Mench Dizon, country head of YGG Pilipinas.
She added, “These stories illustrate that the future of work is not just approaching—it’s already here, and Filipinos can embrace it from their homes.”
The initiative is part of a broader year-long campaign designed to expose more Filipinos to the rapidly expanding digital economy and present alternative career paths beyond traditional employment and overseas work.
The MFW Caravan will feature interactive workshops and expert-led discussions facilitated by YGG Pilipinas’ educational arm, Metaversity. Participants will gain insights into emerging technologies like Web3, AI, and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN).
Through Metaversity, attendees will learn essential skills like resume building, leveraging AI for efficiency, and utilizing decentralized applications (DApps). Job boards and career guidance sessions will also be available at each stop, offering attendees direct access to potential employment opportunities.
Event quests and AI bounties provided through YGG’s Future of Work program will also allow participants to earn rewards. At the same time, the Metaverse Filipino Alliance will help them connect with like-minded communities.
The MFW movement debuted in January 2025 with the release of the short film Metaverse Filipino Worker on YouTube. The film showcases real-life success stories of Filipinos thriving in the Web3 space. Within two weeks, the film garnered over a million views. As part of the caravan, the film’s featured individuals will travel to meet communities, share their journeys, and discuss how they overcame challenges to seize global digital opportunities.
In true YGG Pilipinas style, each caravan stop will include Web3 gaming demos, show matches, and tournaments featuring popular Web3 games. Many Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFWs) began their digital careers through Web3 gaming, which serves as an engaging introduction to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
With the support of the YGG Pilipinas community, these games have become stepping stones for many into the broader digital economy.
“The MFW Caravan marks a significant shift in how Filipinos approach work—prioritizing digital skills, borderless opportunities, and economic empowerment without the need to migrate abroad. At the DICT, we recognize the importance of preparing our workforce for these changes by promoting education and upskilling in emerging fields like Web3 and AI,” said Emmy Lou Delfin, director of the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) and Regional Director for MIMAROPA at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
“By raising awareness and opening pathways to these opportunities, we are laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and resilient digital workforce in the Philippines,” Delvin added.
As technology rapidly evolves, the demand for skilled digital professionals grows. According to the World Economic Forum’s whitepaper The Rise of Global Digital Jobs, there are over 70 million digital jobs worldwide, projected to reach nearly 100 million by 2030.
Meanwhile, the Web3 market, valued at over $1 billion, is expected to grow sixfold in the next five years, according to Mordor Intelligence. YGG Pilipinas is committed to equipping Filipinos with the digital skills needed to capitalize on this expanding market.
The MFW Caravan will officially kick off on April 5 at Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao, followed by stops at Ayala Malls Centrio in Cagayan De Oro on May 4, Ayala Malls Atria Park District in Iloilo on June 7, Ayala Malls Legazpi in Bicol on June 28, Palawan on July 19, and concluding in Manila on August 2.
The initiative is made possible through partnerships with Ayala Malls, G!G, and Coins.ph, Converge, and Parallel TCG, with additional support from DICT and the City Education and Development Office in CDO.
Previously known as the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip, the MFW Caravan represents an evolution of YGG Pilipinas’ commitment to grassroots education on emerging technologies. Since its inception in 2022, the roadshow has expanded to reach more communities nationwide.
The rebranded MFW Caravan underscores a renewed focus on uncovering digital learning and earning opportunities, ensuring Filipinos nationwide have access to the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital economy.
