A mother died while her husband and three children were injured after a truck plowed into six other vehicles along the national road in Sirio Oriwong, Nagsabaran, Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya around 2 p.m. on Friday, police said.
Police Captain Daryl Marquez, Diadi police chief, reported that seven vehicles were involved in the crash: a truck, utility van, SUV, improvised tricycle, tricycle, L300 van, and a self-loader truck carrying a forklift.
The six vehicles were traveling south to Bagabag when the self-loader truck reportedly experienced mechanical trouble and collided with them. The truck struck the improvised tricycle carrying the woman and her family.
The mother was pronounced dead at the hospital, while one of her children remained in critical condition. Her husband and two other children were also hospitalized.
The truck driver surrendered to police and faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
