The country will experience widespread rains on Saturday, influenced by the shear line, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that the shear line would bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. Residents in these areas should stay alert for possible flooding or landslides.
Meanwhile, the ITCZ and easterlies will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Sarangani, and Surigao del Sur. These areas may also experience localized heavy rainfall, leading to flash floods and landslides.
For the rest of Mindanao, Metro Manila, and other parts of the country, the ITCZ and easterlies are expected to produce partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon, making sea travel risky for small boats. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds with slight to moderate sea conditions will be experienced in the rest of the country.
Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor updates from PAGASA and take necessary precautions, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone locations.
