Stephen Curry will be unavailable for the matchup on Wednesday between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder due to bilateral knee soreness and patellofemoral pain, as indicated by the NBA injury report. Although Curry participated in the Warriors’ recent 128–120 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, during which he scored 28 points while shooting 50% (8-for-16) from three-point range and contributing seven assists, he had been previously listed as questionable for the upcoming game.
Currently, Curry leads the Warriors this season with an average of 22.4 points per game, exhibiting a shooting percentage of 44% (60-for-135) from beyond the arc. Furthermore, he is averaging 6.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.
It is noteworthy that Curry has already missed three of the Warriors’ 17 games this season, having been sidelined from October 19 to November 2 due to an ankle injury. The team secured victories in all three of those games; however, replicating such success may prove to be more challenging against the Thunder, who currently hold the top position in the Western Conference with a record of 13–4, while the Warriors stand closely behind at 12–5.
Additionally, forward Jonathan Kuminga is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s contest due to an illness. He has been absent from the Warriors’ previous two games but participated in practice on Tuesday.
Earlier this season, the Warriors triumphed over the Thunder in their first encounter on November 10, winning 127–116. In that game, Curry scored 38 points, while Kuminga contributed 20 points. De’Anthony Melton also recorded 19 points but is now sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.
Oklahoma City also faced a setback with the loss of Chet Holmgren, who is expected to be out for eight to ten weeks due to a fractured hip sustained in the same matchup. Holmgren fell heavily after attempting to block a shot by Andrew Wiggins early in the first quarter.
