Volleyball World (VW) has assured Philippine organizers that the broadcast feed for the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship (MWCH) is free of unauthorized betting promotions, amid concerns over a global gambling platform operating without a local license.
In a letter dated September 24, 2025, VW chief executive officer Ugo Valensi confirmed to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), co-chaired by presidential son William Vincent Araneta Marcos and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, that the television feed being delivered to host broadcaster Cignal TV Inc. is “clean and free of any virtual overlays, graphics, animations, ticker-texts, logos, or other visible elements that promote, advertise, or reference any unlicensed or unauthorized betting, gambling, wagering or gaming operator.”
“This confirmation is given in recognition of regulatory obligations relating to betting and gambling advertising,” Valensi said. “We take very seriously our responsibility to provide a high-quality and compliant signal for the enjoyment of volleyball fans, and we remain attentive to supporting Cignal TV in meeting all applicable regulatory requirements.”
VW, the Lausanne-based commercial partner of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), manages the sport’s global events, match coverage, digital platforms, and sponsorships. Earlier this year, the FIVB announced a landmark five-year sponsorship deal with 1xBet, covering major tournaments including the Volleyball Nations League, World Championships, Club World Championships, and the Beach Pro Tour.
Despite the global agreement, Cignal TV retains exclusive broadcast rights for the Philippines, ensuring all coverage complies with local broadcast and regulatory standards.
