Global payments giant Visa is deepening its investment in the Philippines’ digital finance ecosystem with the launch of Visa University, a new learning platform designed to equip banking and finance professionals with cutting-edge expertise in payments and emerging financial technologies.

The initiative marks Visa’s latest effort to strengthen industry capabilities as digital payments continue to reshape the financial landscape. Through specialized courses and training modules, Visa University aims to help professionals build critical skills in payments, payments technology, and financial innovation.

More than 130 participants from banks, fintech companies, merchants, and other financial institutions attended the inaugural Visa University forum held at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), underscoring the growing demand for advanced learning opportunities in the rapidly evolving payments sector.

Led by Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), Visa’s advisory and analytics arm, the forum explored both foundational and emerging topics in payments. Discussions covered payments fundamentals, issuing and acquiring, credit card profitability, and next-generation innovations such as agentic commerce, artificial intelligence-driven transactions, and advanced risk management solutions.

“The rapidly evolving payments landscape requires leaders who are curious and agile, while being strongly grounded in fundamentals,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Jeffrey Navarro, Country Manager of Visa Philippines.

“Through Visa University, we are investing in the development of future payments talent to help strengthen the resilience of the Philippine payments ecosystem. By equipping professionals with the right skills and knowledge, we aim to support the country’s ambitions to build a more inclusive, innovative, and secure digital economy,” he added.

Visa University complements the strategic advisory services provided by VCA to banks and financial institutions across the region. The platform combines Visa’s extensive global payments expertise with real-world international and regional case studies, giving participants practical insights into industry best practices and emerging trends.

For its first Philippine forum, Visa University focused on foundational payments education, including issuing, acquiring, and credit card profit-and-loss management—key areas for early-career professionals seeking to build expertise in the banking industry.

The launch builds on Visa’s broader commitment to executive education. In previous initiatives, Visa University partnered with renowned business school INSEAD to provide specialized training programs for banking executives on emerging payment innovations and digital transformation.

Looking ahead, Visa University is exploring partnerships with local universities, higher education institutions, and professional organizations to expand access to payments education and develop customized learning programs tailored to the needs of the Philippine market.

As digital payments gain momentum and financial services become increasingly technology-driven, Visa University is positioning itself as a key platform for developing the talent and leadership needed to drive the next phase of growth in the country’s digital economy.
