Vietnam’s Party General Secretary Tô Lâm presents the First-Class Labor Order to Phạm Nhật Vượng – Chairman of Vingroup – in recognition of the Group’s outstanding achievements, at the National Exhibition Fair Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Vingroup has been awarded the prestigious First-Class Labor Order for its extraordinary achievement in developing the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC)—a landmark project completed 15 months ahead of schedule and unveiled in time for Vietnam’s 80th National Day celebrations.
The recognition was conferred during the Inauguration and Groundbreaking Ceremony of National Projects commemorating September 2, 1945–2025, held at the Tu Lien Bridge area in Dong Anh District, Hanoi.
Touted as one of the ten largest exhibition centers in the world, the NECC spans 900,000 square meters and is envisioned as a global hub for trade fairs, cultural exchanges, and large-scale international events. More than just an exhibition ground, the Center is designed to be a new symbol of Hanoi’s rise on the world stage.
Construction began on August 30, 2024, and remarkably, the project was handed over on June 27, 2025—after just 10 months of non-stop building. The pace was unprecedented in Vietnam’s construction industry, especially given the massive technical challenges posed by the project’s steel dome structure.
As both investor and general contractor, Vingroup orchestrated a highly synchronized effort involving hundreds of contractors, up to 3,000 workers and engineers, and nearly 1,000 heavy machines operating around the clock. At peak intensity, the site worked 24/7 across three shifts, compressing construction timelines by 60% without compromising quality or safety.
At the heart of the complex stands the iconic Kim Quy Exhibition Hall, now the world’s largest circular exhibition hall. Covering more than 130,000 square meters and rising 56 meters high, its dome alone weighs 24,000 tons and required specialized high-strength assembly methods. The hall’s design draws inspiration from the mythical Golden Turtle God (Kim Quy), blending cultural heritage with modern engineering.

Located in Hanoi, the National Exhibition Fair Center covers 90 hectares and ranks among the world’s top 10 largest exhibition venues.
The NECC also features an integrated ecosystem of international-standard facilities: the VinPalace International Convention Center, landscaped parks and lakes, expansive plazas in all four directions, and parking areas capable of hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors. The venue is equipped to handle global summits, mega exhibitions, national festivals, and international concerts, elevating Vietnam’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry to a new level.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vingroup Vice Chairman and CEO Nguyen Viet Quang shared:
“Receiving the First-Class Labor Order at the inauguration of the National Exhibition and Convention Center is a profound honor and pride for all of us at Vingroup. We remain committed to ensuring the Center becomes a world-class destination for political, economic, cultural, and social events—solidifying Hanoi and Vietnam’s place on the global map.”
The completion of the NECC is also strategically timed for the National Achievements Exhibition – 80 Years of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness, scheduled for August 28 to September 5, 2025. The exhibition will unite provinces, ministries, and enterprises from across Vietnam in one grand showcase, expected to attract millions of visitors and reignite national pride.
Vingroup’s success in delivering the project ahead of schedule underscores the strength of Vietnam’s private sector and its growing role in driving the nation’s global integration. More than a construction feat, the NECC represents vision, determination, and the power of Vietnamese enterprise to shape the country’s future.
