Electric vehicle (EV) giant VinFast has teamed up with local firm CarBEV to inject P1 billion into the Philippines’ transport infrastructure, a move aimed at significantly boosting the country’s EV ecosystem starting in 2026.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at VinFast’s headquarters in Hanoi, Vietnam. Under the agreement, the two companies will deploy 5,000 electric vehicle charging ports across the country.
The collaboration merges VinFast’s global manufacturing expertise with CarBEV’s specialized local fleet management systems.
Beyond the charging infrastructure, the P1-billion investment will also facilitate the introduction of electric vehicles for logistics fleets, ride-hailing services, and government agencies.
“This partnership goes beyond vehicles because it lays the groundwork for greener cities, smarter transport networks, and inclusive economic progress,” CarBEV CEO Christian Bradley said in a statement.
The initiative aligns with the Philippine government’s Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), which set a target of 7,300 charging stations nationwide by 2028.
The move also intensifies competition in the local green mobility sector.
VinFast previously announced a separate partnership in October targeting 15,000 charging ports, while other major players like ACMobility (Ayala Corporation) and SM Supermalls continue to expand their own charging networks.
By modernizing urban mobility and reducing carbon emissions in major cities, the VinFast-CarBEV venture seeks to address “range anxiety”—one of the primary hurdles for Filipino consumers switching to electric cars.
