Vertiv announced key leadership changes within its global technology organization as part of a planned transition.
After more than 30 years of distinguished service, Chief Technology Officer Stephen Liang will retire on January 1, 2026. Liang has been a cornerstone of Vertiv’s innovation journey—guiding its technology direction from its Emerson Network Power origins to its current standing as a leading global solutions provider. Earlier this year, he shifted to focus fully on his CTO role, driving innovation and the company’s long-term technology roadmap.
“Stephen’s vision and leadership have left an indelible mark on Vertiv,” said Gio Albertazzi, Vertiv Chief Executive Officer. “His work has shaped the way we develop, deliver, and integrate our technology solutions for customers around the world. His legacy will continue to inspire our teams for years to come.”
Succeeding Liang will be Scott Armul, who will assume an expanded position as Chief Product and Technology Officer effective January 1, 2026. Armul, currently Executive Vice President for Global Portfolio and Business Units—a role he took on in January 2025—will oversee Vertiv’s Technology Office, research and development, and business unit operations.
The leadership realignment aims to strengthen collaboration between Vertiv’s innovation engine and its commercial strategy, ensuring that the company’s technology advancements directly address customer and market needs.
A 15-year veteran of Vertiv, Armul has held several leadership, engineering, and customer engagement positions since joining in 2009, giving him a deep understanding of the company’s technologies and global operations. His appointment underscores Vertiv’s commitment to cultivating leadership talent from within and building a high-performance culture anchored in innovation and customer focus.
