Vatican reports continued improvement in Pope Francis’ health

ROME – Pope Francis’ health continues to improve, the Vatican announced Thursday, as the 88-year-old pontiff recovers from bronchitis and double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

“The Holy Father’s clinical condition is confirmed to be improving again today,” the Vatican Press Office stated.

Despite progress, doctors are maintaining caution.

“Today, he alternated high-flow oxygen therapy with a Ventimask. Due to the complexity of the clinical picture, further days of clinical stability are necessary before the prognosis can be lifted,” the statement added.

Concern over the Pope’s health peaked over the weekend when the Vatican reported his condition as critical following respiratory crises, followed by a minor kidney failure.

However, his situation has steadily improved in recent days.

On Thursday morning, Pope Francis underwent respiratory physiotherapy, followed by rest.

In the afternoon, after another therapy session, he prayed in the chapel of his private apartment on the hospital’s 10th floor, where he received the Eucharist. He later resumed work-related activities.

While his recovery is progressing, medical experts continue to monitor him closely, emphasizing the need for stability before further updates on his prognosis. (ANSA)
