ILOILO CITY — Uswag Ilonggo Representative James “Jojo” Ang vowed to clear his name after being named in a national government probe into alleged irregularities in flood control projects. The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended charges against Ang and several other lawmakers for their reported ties to contractors.
In a statement, Ang said he is confident that his innocence will be proven.
“My conscience is clear, and I am confident that I will soon be able to clear my name. I remain committed to seeing the truth come out,” he said.
Ang stressed that in his three years of public service, he has never used his position for personal gain.
“I have always acted in the interest of the public. I am prepared to defend myself in the proper forum,” he added.
The ICI report also named seven other lawmakers, including former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, for alleged links to construction companies that secured numerous infrastructure contracts between 2016 and 2024.
Uswag Ilonggo, established in 2019, secured its first seat in the House of Representatives in 2022.
