MANILA – The number of travelers for Undas at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2 this year dropped by 11.55 percent to 1,003,714 passengers.
Undas is a Philippine tradition, otherwise called the All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2, aimed at remembering family members who have passed away.
Data from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) showed that Undas travelers in 2025 reached around 1,237,653 passengers.
Specifically, international passengers totaled 504,252 while domestic travelers totaled 499,462 this year, lower than the 625,113 international passengers and 612,540 domestic passengers on same period last year.
The highest volume of travelers, international and domestic combined, was recorded last Oct. 30, with a total of 153,895 passengers.
Meanwhile, security operations remained generally peaceful, according to the Office for Transportation Security (OTS).
“From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, transportation security operations during the Undas period remained generally peaceful, with no major untoward incidents reported,” OTS Administrator Gilbert Cruz told the Philippine News Agency in an interview.
The OTS mobilized its full force of screening officers to ensure continuous security screening operations and maintain heightened vigilance, Cruz said.
He said OTS auditors have monitored activities to ensure compliance with established security protocols and the consistent implementation of security measures.
Cruz, meanwhile, thanked the public for their cooperation, as well as the OTS personnel for their dedication in ensuring safety. (PNA)
