ALDOUS Torculas is reportedly shifting to Mapua.
After years at the University of the Philippines, Aldous Torculas said his goodbyes this Wednesday. Word spread fast through sources across the NCAA, all of whom had been following the whispers of Torculas’ next move.
Leaving was no easy decision for the 6-foot-4 forward, but the pull of new challenges and the hunger to prove himself elsewhere were enough to spark this bold change.
“We’re proud of Aldous, wherever he goes next,” said UP’s Dir. Bo Perasol, speaking on behalf of the university’s Athletics and Sports Development office.
“We’re confident he’ll carry the UP Fight with him and continue to make us proud.”
Torculas is exploring the idea of continuing his career in the NCAA, especially given the UAAP’s revised eligibility rules.
With three seasons already under his belt with the Fighting Maroons, the transfer option to another UAAP school would cost him his remaining years of eligibility. But in the NCAA, he still has two full seasons to go, starting with Season 102.
One of the schools keen on bringing Torculas into their fold is Jose Rizal University, now under the leadership of Nani Epondulan.
In his time at UP, Torculas has played in 38 games, with his best season last year, where he averaged 3.87 points and 2.33 rebounds per game. His highest-scoring game so far has been 13 points.
