Typhoon Tino batters Palawan, triggers severe flooding

Since 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, Typhoon Tino has been pounding Palawan with strong winds and heavy rains.

In the town of Magsaysay, a house was crushed by a fallen tree, while roofs of a covered court in Barangay Los Angeles were torn off by powerful gusts.

In Barangay Port Barton, San Vicente, flooding from the overflowing river reached the local gymnasium where residents had taken shelter. In Barangay Kemdeng, floodwaters rose to neck-deep levels, forcing the evacuation of residents, including members of the indigenous community.

In Puerto Princesa City, evacuations continued late into the night in Barangay Bahile. Several roads in Barangays Maoyon, Langogan, and Binduyan were rendered impassable due to flooding.

As of now, the center of Typhoon Tino remains over Northern Palawan.
