Two low pressure areas being monitored within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) are not expected to develop into tropical cyclones or directly affect the country, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the LPA formerly identified as Tropical Depression Caloy was last located about 690 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.
The weather agency said the system had already weakened and was no longer likely to intensify into a storm.
They added that the weather disturbance was not bringing any direct effects to any part of the country and was not expected to redevelop into a tropical cyclone.
Another LPA outside PAR was spotted about 1,680 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao early Tuesday.
The agency said the second weather system also had a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and was not expected to enter the country’s monitoring area.
Despite this, Pagasa said warm and humid conditions would persist, with isolated thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening across several parts of the country.
They also warned that heat indices may reach dangerous levels, with Tuguegarao City possibly hitting 45°C and Metro Manila experiencing up to 42°C, raising the risk of heat-related illnesses.
