Two Japanese manufacturers are considering expanding their operations to the Philippines, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

In a statement on Thursday, PEZA announced that Kawamura Electric, Inc. and FRP Services & Company Japan have expressed interest in investing in ecozones following Director General Tereso Panga’s visit to Tokyo from March 3 to 6.

Kawamura Electric is looking to establish a presence in the Philippines as part of its broader strategy to strengthen Southeast Asian operations. The company views the country as a key ASEAN partner, particularly due to its strong trade ties with the United States, which could provide an advantage in export manufacturing.

With over 50 years of experience, Kawamura specializes in electrical equipment, including high-voltage power installations, switchboards, and circuit breakers. It also holds the largest market share for electrical enclosures in IT infrastructure and data centers across Japan.

The company operates seven factories and sales offices in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Meanwhile, FRP Services & Company Japan is exploring collaboration with local businesses and considering setting up operations at the TECO Industrial Park-Special Economic Zone.

The move aims to support the needs of a major client based in the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ), particularly for fiberglass-reinforced particle boards.

PEZA’s push for Japanese investments
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga emphasized the country’s readiness to accommodate new investors, particularly from Japan.

“We are targeting new Japanese investors to consider the Philippines their next investment destination. At the same time, we are encouraging existing Japanese firms to expand their presence by bringing in their supply chain,” Panga said.

“The Philippines is in a prime position to host these investments, given the competitive advantages we have highlighted.”

PEZA continues to promote the economic zones as a strategic hub for global investors, offering access to international markets and strong business incentives.
