Tuba, Benguet implements National ID verification to speed up service

The municipality of Tuba, Benguet has begun verifying residents’ identities through the National ID Authentication System (NIDAS) to improve the delivery of health and social welfare services, the Philippine Statistics Authority–Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) announced Wednesday.

PSA-CAR Director Villafe Alibuyog said the initiative aims to digitize records and transactions, ensuring better security, faster retrieval of documents, and resilience during disasters.

With NIDAS integration, beneficiaries can be reliably identified, guaranteeing that government assistance reaches the rightful recipients. The Tuba Municipal Management System (TMMS) is also being merged with NIDAS to unify local services.

Alibuyog emphasized,
“The National ID is not just a card. It is a key that opens access to essential services and opportunities,” noting that it enhances financial inclusion and strengthens government aid distribution.

She added that even without a physical card, residents can access banking and digital services, including in remote areas.

Alibuyog said Tuba’s initiative demonstrates how national programs and local leadership can collaborate to advance digital governance and efficient public service delivery.
