WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, October 14, extended his well wishes to Pope Leo XIV following reports that the pontiff had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Speaking to reporters before departing for Montana, Trump expressed hope for the Pope’s recovery.
“I want to see Pope Leo get well … We just want to wish him our love and our best wishes,” Trump said.
“I just want to wish him well. Get better fast,” he added.
According to the report, the Vatican announced that Pope Leo underwent surgery at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday to remove a lung nodule discovered during routine medical examinations.
The Vatican reportedly said the procedure was completed successfully and that the pontiff had returned to his hospital room.
The report further stated that the nodule was detected at an early stage and was localized within the lung, allowing surgeons to remove it completely.
The reported diagnosis and medical details require independent confirmation from official Vatican sources.
