WASHINGTON – The president of the United States Donald Trump praised the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s vote in favor of the Sunshine Protection Act, the bill that would make daylight saving time permanent.
Trump argued that changing the clocks twice a year would entail high costs for citizens and local governments, citing in particular the expense of regulating large public clocks.
The proposal, promoted by Republican Congressmen Rick Scott and Vern Buchanan, aims to maintain the current timetable between March and November.
According to supporters, the measure could improve public health, road safety, and outdoor recreation. Hawaii and much of Arizona would be exempt, maintaining standard time year-round. (Agenzia Nova)
