Trump signs bill to make Epstein case materials public

US President Donald Trump signed a bill compelling the country’s Justice Department to release files related to the case of deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein, the President announced on his Truth Social network account.

In his online statement, President Trump asserted that Epstein, who was charged by the Trump Justice Department in 2019, was a “lifelong Democrat, donated Thousands of Dollars to Democrat Politicians, and was deeply associated with many well-known Democrat figures.”

The files gained renewed public attention last week after Republicans on the House Oversight Committee released over 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate, following the prior release of Epstein-related emails by Democratic lawmakers, according to NBC News.

The announcement comes as President Trump’s approval rating has dipped to 38%, the lowest since his inauguration on January 20, 2025, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll conducted from November 14 to 17.

The survey of 1,017 adults found that respondents expressed dissatisfaction with rising prices and the administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

Only 20% of respondents believed authorities were conducting the investigation properly, while 70% suspected the administration was concealing information about Epstein’s clients.

Epstein was detained by New York State law enforcement in July 2019 on charges that he had organized visits by dozens of underage girls to his Manhattan home between 2002 and 2005.

The financier’s list of friends and acquaintances included numerous current and former officials from the US and other countries, including major entrepreneurs and show business stars, such as 42nd US President Bill Clinton and President Trump.

Epstein’s criminal prosecution was terminated in August 2019 after he committed suicide in a prison cell. (TASS)
