United States President Donald Trump said he would remove tariffs on whiskey from Britain following a state visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The announcement was made hours after the royal couple concluded their official engagement at the White House.

Trump said the decision would ease restrictions affecting whiskey producers in Scotland and their trade ties with counterparts in Kentucky.

He noted that both industries have long-standing commercial links, including cooperation involving the use of wooden barrels.

The US president also suggested that the move had been influenced by discussions during the visit, saying the decision came after his meeting with the British monarch.

He described the development as a long-awaited step to support cross-border trade in the spirits industry.

However, officials have yet to clarify the scope of the tariff removal or which specific products will be covered.

Further details are expected as authorities outline the policy changes tied to the announcement.
