Members of transport cooperatives under the National Federation of Transport Cooperatives (NFTC) can get an additional Php 2 discount for every liter of fuel purchased under a new program launched Monday.

The NFTC Fuel Loyalty Discount Program is available to qualified members operating traditional and modern jeepneys, UV Express units and tourist vans nationwide.

The Php 2-per-liter reduction is separate from the government’s Php 12-per-liter fuel discount, giving eligible beneficiaries access to both forms of assistance.

Unlike some fuel promotions, the NFTC program does not require drivers or operators to purchase a minimum number of liters per day to qualify for the discount.

The initiative was established through a partnership between the NFTC and Seaoil, with more than 377 participating fuel stations across the country.

LTFRB Acting Chairman Greg Pua Jr. attended the program’s launch on Aug. 31 as the transport sector continued to contend with higher fuel prices and operating expenses.

The LTFRB said the initiative was part of efforts to help reduce expenses shouldered by public transport drivers and operators amid rising oil prices.

Officials and representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority, Office of Transportation Cooperatives, Seaoil, Metro Valenzuela Transport Service Cooperative and AGQ Trading Corporation also attended the launch.
