2025 TGR Philippine Cup Race Weekend 1 racers.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launched the 2025 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup with an adrenaline-charged first race weekend. Veteran racer Maila Alivia took the early lead in the Super Sporting Class, while Jesse Garcia topped the Sporting Class. In the Novice Class, sim racer and Vios Cup Autocross Challenge graduate Luis Moreno currently leads the standings.
Former Vios Cup competitors returned to the track in the Legacy Class sprint races. Among the standout participants were Senator JV Ejercito—who clinched his first Vios Cup win back in 2017—and Paolo Ang, a two-time Sporting Class runner-up in 2021 and 2023.
Making history this season, GR car club members joined the grid for the first-ever Club Race. This special event exemplified Toyota’s commitment to delivering excitement and unforgettable moments to its passionate fanbase.
Legacy Class Sprint Race
Track Day also drew crowds as GR performance and Lexus car owners unleashed their machines on the circuit. Fans got an up-close look at Toyota’s GR lineup and Lexus’ F SPORT series in the dedicated display area.
Off the track, the activity zone offered an array of engaging experiences. Spectators enjoyed free giveaways, sponsor booth prizes, diecast collectible sales, and the chance to try both remote control and sim racing setups.
The centerpiece of the weekend remained the circuit races. Sprint Race 2 featured a reverse grid format to heighten the excitement. In the Novice Class, the top four finishers from Sprint Race 1 were flipped, putting John Rey San Diego on pole position.
For the Legacy, Sporting, and Super Sporting Classes, a full grid reversal was applied. This placed Oliver Estrella, Mike Santos, and Iñigo Anton at the front of their respective categories. However, early damage pushed Estrella to the back of the Legacy field, allowing Paolo Ang to seize the lead. In the Sporting Class, Novice Class graduate Russel Reyes carved his way to the front, claiming his second sprint win of the season.
Maila Alivia strengthened her title hopes by dominating the Super Sporting Class—winning both sprint races and finishing in the top five during the endurance race.
In the Novice Class, TMP President Masando Hashimoto secured his second podium of the weekend with a third-place finish, capitalizing on a runoff by Pablo Salapantan.
Fans were treated to intense wheel-to-wheel action during the Super Sporting Class endurance race, as Mikey Jordan and Alain Gabriel Alzona fiercely contested third place. After several tense laps, Alzona successfully broke through Jordan’s defensive driving to claim the podium spot.
